Inspiration Post #1

This man is my absolute hero. Kyo, the vocalist for Japanese rock band Dir en grey. A friend of mine introduced me to them about 8 years now, and I had instantly fell in love with them. The very best thing about music is that it’s universal, you don’t have to understand the words, you can feel it if it’s portrayed correctly, as Dir en grey does.

The first song I heard was called “Ain’t Afraid to Die”, and I could just feel how sad the theme of it was, but the vocalist oozed with bittersweet content; something I hadn’t witnessed in music yet.

They have done something so precious, with every release, I could go on for days. What they have done for me that is so important can be summed up in: they were there for me when I had no one to turn to. Or maybe I did, but my trust had been so broken by that point that I just couldn’t.

There are still few times where I’m not dealing with depression, loneliness, where I just feel so distant from everybody around me. This man, his lyrics, he sings for me when I can’t. He screams for me because I can’t. He even claws at himself, cuts, pulls at his hair, gives his absolute all—so I don’t have to any more. He makes it so all I have to do for the length of the song is feel. That’s the very best part, feeling. I’ve gone through so long without feeling. It went from constant pain to numbness, and I’m not sure which I preferred, but Kyo makes it not matter.

So anyways, he is utter perfection. I want even an ounce of strength that he possesses. I owe him so much, I think all I could possibly do is use what he has given me and not take it for granted.
